September 11 to 14, 2012, Sopot, Poland: conference Working on Safety WOS2012. Prof. Grote talks as keynote speaker about Promoting safety by increasing uncertainty. WOS is an international network of decision-makers, researchers and professionals responsible for the prevention of accidents at work.

- June 12, Event "Career Transitions": Almost 100 people, mainly MBA alumni, participated in an event where we presented and discussed some initial results from our research project „Beyond organization and self: The importance of reference groups in career transitions“:
- Chance events in managerial careers (Martin Gubler)
- Work-related networks (Cécile Tschopp)
- Career success (Wiebke Doden)
Finally, Professor Douglas T. Hall showed how individuals can pursue a "career with a heart", i.e. a truly satisfying career, in today's world of work.

- We congratulate Cécile Tschopp and Nadine Bienefeld on their successfully passed doctoral examinations: On May 7 Cécile Tschopp defended her dissertation "Should I Stay or Should I Go? Career Intentions in the Context of Preferences, Success, Insecurity, and Work Experience", and on May 30, Nadine Bienefeld defended her dissertation "Leadership, boundery-spanning, and voice in high-risk muslti-team systems".

- New external page Podcast on DRS 2 in the Simulation Centre USZ and our SNF study "Combined technical and non-technical skills training for managing unanticipated difficult intubations": "Die Puppe im Operationssaal" (in German only).
- On 19th March, a report based on findings from our project “Beyond organization and self: The importance of reference groups in career transitions” was published in the „Tages Anzeiger“, a major Swiss newspaper. The article highlights the – sometimes unexpected – benefits of post-graduate management programmes.
- From March until summer Michaela Kolbe will be working as Visiting Research Scholar at the external page Center for Medical Simulation in Cambridge, Mass, USA.

Sifra Corver is working in exchange with the London Imperial College, Department Centre for Transport Studies, Dr. Arnab Majumbar during February 2012. She's working with Dr. Kohei Nonose from Japan on the development of measurement instruments for cognitive aspects (team situation awareness and team mental model) for ATC Enroute Control teams.
